I work in watercolour, pastel, coloured pencil, printmaking and drawing to express the details of nature. Plants, trees, and small animals are my favourite subjects.
I am a nature-based artist in Durham region who works in a realistic style in various media. I earned an Honours BA in Visual Arts at Western University and studied at several other art schools as well. My artwork has earned many awards in Durham region.Flowers and trees have been some of my enduring interests. I enjoy drawing the small details of a plant as well as depicting its life cycle.

The media I use for drawing are pencil, pen and ink, and printmaking. My etching press enables me to work in etching, drypoint and monoprinting. I combine and layer my drawings, monoprints and etchings to express the passage of time and the connections between plants, insects and birds.
When I want to enhance my linework, I add watercolour, pastel, or coloured pencil. I can layer colours for bold yet precise effects. Anything can become fodder for a piece of art. As I continue to explore various media and subject matter, I find that making art is full of possibilities.
The following are three recent honours I received for my work:
My watercolour and ink painting of sunflowers titled, “Touched by the Sun,” was selected by the City of Oshawa to be reproduced for the show, “Convergence,” to celebrate the arts during Oshawa’s Centenary in September 2024. My watercolour painting, “Spring Fire Tulips,” was chosen to be reproduced on the RESOUND Choir’s website and on the album cover of their 2024 EP. My charcoal drawing, “Remembering Rhubarb,” won an Award of Excellence at the Pine Ridge Arts Council Juried Show, October-November 2023.
