I like to experiment and use a semiabstract style to paint varied Canadian landscapes that constantly inspire and excite me. Working recently in acrylics, I still enjoy watercolour and mixed media.
Following a satisfying career in the Health Sciences and Interior Design Karen began her art journey. Karen works mainly in acrylics but enjoys painting with watercolour and creating mixed media pieces. Karen has attended courses at Haliburton School of Art and Design, and many workshops locally and abroad. She held solo shows at Markham Flato Theatre, Kathleen McKay Art Centre in Unionville as well as the Kent-Farndale Gallery in Port Perry.
As well as solo exhibits, Karen has participated in several group shows in Port Perry and at the Station Gallery. She has had pieces accepted into juried shows at the Station Gallery, Whitby and the Robert McLaughlin Gallery in Oshawa. Karen enjoyed participating in the Kawartha Lakes Studio Tour 2024 and was a site artist for the Scugog Studio Tour 2025. In 2026 Karen looks forward to the Scugog Studio Tour again as a site artist.
Karen is an active member of the Port Perry Artists’ Association and Scugog Arts. She attributes her ongoing development as an artist to the many workshops attended and her colleagues.
Karen has an eclectic style from representational to abstract and impressionist. She enjoys exploring and playing with different mediums and doesn’t always have a plan. Karen just lets the story evolve!
