I am a pen and paper artist. I draw mandala inspired images incorporating shapes found in nature. Creative processes have become a form of meditation for me. I hope the viewer finds a similar sense of calm and balance within my images.

Gwen Hovey is a retired person with a passion for creating mandala inspired images. She has been putting pen to paper in a serious way for about 6 years. She has found that the creation of images can be a form of meditation and upon further reflection the creative process has become a therapeutic outlet. Each image, through repeated motifs based in nature, strives to create a sense of balance and calm. The simplicity of repetition, within the boundaries of the mandala lines, creates a final image greater than its parts. The process of creating these images has enhanced Gwen’s lifelong learning journey and her emotional wellbeing. Gwen has been able to scale her images from the size of greeting cards and wall art up to the size of a wall mural. Gwen’s other interests include gardening, reading and being present for her family, friends and pets.
