Sandra MacPherson

Watercolour Painter

Artist Statement

Painting provides me a chance to slow down and reflect; away from busy daily routines, painting allows relief and rest from stress. I am so grateful for the gift of this artistic respite, with its restorative, re-energizing healing. And this is what I hope my paintings express – a moment of rest – life at its best – the way we would wish it to be – light-filled, uplifting, and peaceful.

About the Artist

Sandra MacPherson has been working with watercolours for over 30 years. Largely self-taught, she studied at the Ontario College of Art & Design, and in workshops with various professional artists. Her portfolio of watercolour and acrylic paintings includes landscapes, buildings, floral, still life, and figurative works. She loves the tangible, lasting result of a successfully completed painting.

Known for creating artwork that expresses the warmth of home and community, Sandra is often commissioned to paint “house portraits” for people wishing to give them as gifts to family and friends. Her tiny 5 x 7 painting, “Peonies”, a watercolour created for a wedding invitation, is included in the permanent art collection at the historic Heintzman House in Thornhill.

Sandra is a member of Scugog Arts and a participant in the Lake Scugog Studio Tour. She has been a member of the Coldwater and Area Studio Tour, an associate member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, and Past-President of the Willowdale Group of Artists. She participates in both group and solo shows in York Region, Scugog, Huronia, Parry Sound, and Toronto.

Sandra’s artwork is included in private and corporate collections across Canada.
