My work is about ‘slow fashion’ where you can feel the hand of the maker, and know that each purse was crafted one at a time, with meticulous attention to detail.
About the Artist
The future of our planet is important to Nancy, so she only works with eco friendly textiles such as waxed canvas, natural cottons and cork.
Nancy graduated from the Textile Studio at Sheridan College of Art & Design and has been working with textiles in various forms for decades. She spent over a decade weaving hand dyed silk scarves, shawls and kimonos, and for the last 10years has been making sturdy, well made purses for every day use.
Nancy’s sewing ‘career’ started over half a century ago and you can see the experience in the quality of workmanship.
Nancy takes great pride in her work and believes that straight seams, even stitching, and sturdy construction are really important to creating a finished product that not only looks good, but will last. Her work is about ‘slow fashion’ where you can feel the hand of the maker, and know that each creation was crafted one at a time, with meticulous attention to detail.
