Artist Statement
The unpredictable beauty of the sea is my main influence which helps me to depict both the power and tranquility of the waves.

About the Artist
Katherine is known for her love of the sea. She is a Canadian mixed media seascape artist who resides in Orono, Ontario surrounded by nature and infinite inspiration.
The colour palette she uses varies between hues of deep blue and teal while always aiming to evoke a sense of calm and happiness through her art. The inspiration for Katherine’s work comes from her upbringing along the Pacific Coast in Lima, Peru where she and her family would spend endless summers at the beach. After returning home from a trip to Australia in 2017, Katherine’s childhood memories of the sea became prominent and she felt overcome with an urge to paint. If not behind her easel, you will find Katherine in her wood shop creating ocean-inspired home decor made with resin and live edge wood. Katherine’s work has been featured in the Summer 22’ edition of Durham Region’s EAST Magazine while her large scale tropical painting “Aloha” was voted top 50 in Canada in 2021 by The Marketer Magazine. Katherine’s work has been exhibited at Propeller Art Gallery, The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Oakville Art in the Park, Lake Scugog Studio Tour, I Deal Coffee, and Oronofest. |
