Expressions of Environment…
a new theme on our tour!
Art inspired by Nature
We encouraged our artists to share art inspired by our environment. We loved seeing the inspiration behind pieces like “Smooth Landing” in marble by Gordon Reidt or “Sippers” by Cathy Lombard.
Gordon Reidt- Marble “Smooth Landing”
Cathy Lombard – “Sippers”
By definition, environment means the surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal, or plant lives or operates. The environment theme is very fitting when you think about what a studio tour offers.
Sustainable Art
Artists who nailed the environment theme!
Nancy Newman – Designer
Nancy Newman only works with eco-friendly textiles such as waxed canvas, natural cotton, and cork. The future of our planet is important to Nancy so never uses ‘vegan leather’ as it is polyurethane and takes 400 years to decompose.
Jasmine Rutschmann – Metal
Jasmine Rutschmann uses reclaimed materials when creating her metal artwork. Incorporating shovels, saws, wheelbarrows, oil tanks, and more into the pieces she creates.
Mila Haynos Owen – Lavender Artisan
Mila Haynos Owen hand-crafts value-added lavender products and teaches the public about the multifaceted beauty of lavender. Mila started Lavender-Blu which is comprised of a lavender eco-garden, hobby farm, and a lavender artisan studio with the motto to ‘Cultivate Calm’.
